The room is lovely and the staff are helpful. The tea itself leaves a bit to be desired for a Westerner. They poured the water and tea into the pot and then immediately wanted to serve it without letting it steep. I'm not sure how well they know how tea should be served. They also didn't offer milk with tea, but I know that 's a personal preference. The high tea selection was fine, but I'm not sure it was as excellent or as ample as what I would expect for the price ($70). It is good but could be better.

Had afternoon tea here, and was seated near the window. Absolutely beautiful view outside, along with quaint decor on the inside. As one of my kids was above 6 years old, we had to order another set for her - which I thought is fair. Service by Robin was polite and prompt. Overall, a good experience!

Oh please! We had the afternoon tea - Christmas set. The scones were unrecognisable as such, and were the texture of cardboard - at least a week old; the red velvet 'yule log' was mushy and vacant of any taste or texture; the savouries were all bland and, with eyes closed, completely unidentifiable; something that can be only loosely be described as a prawn hotdog was soggy, the bread inedible; the cheesecake was placed on a cheap biscuit; the whole miserable effort was served on a cheap plastic stand that wouldn't have looked out of place in Toys r Us. All this can be yours for a mere 388 RMB (only 688 RMB for two)! Needed a stiff Scotch in the Long Bar to recover (the bar at least is worth 5 stars).
