It was a great dinner overall. While I have experienced more exceptional dishes in the past, the food was still very good. What truly stood out, however, was the impeccable presentation, the inviting atmosphere, and the attentive service, which elevated the entire experience.
OCT 2024 Visited for lunch with a reservation and had the Apinac menu. The course started off with some amuse bouche followed by five small appetizers and three kinds of bread. There was nice variety of flavors experienced in a short span of time; very enjoyable. The appetizer that followed was an oyster dish with beetroot sauce and comte cheese which was also tasty. For mains, the Kinmedai fish and the duck meat dish both have a small side dish to pair with. The Kinmedai was pretty good; as for the duck the sweetness of the sauce was slightly overpowering and presentation was not the best. Desserts were ok, not to my liking. Service was great; the staffs were friendly and explains all the dishes in detail.
Positives -Wonderful restaurant floor manager and sommelier. -Fantastic view -Good wine list with many affordable choices - Two star Michelin (This leads me to question the rating system. Unbelievable . See below) -Easy to book (There is good reason ..see below) Negatives -Hotel based restaurant sharing billing -This emperor has no clothes. The best days are long gone. -Owner lives in France and appears to have minimal quality control here -There is good reason that reviews are old and the spread is high away from excellent -Amuse were all tasteless -Breads were insipid -Butter was same as served at breakfast in the hotel. Not bespoke. -No dish served was worthy of even one star. I felt sorry for the great staff and the under qualified chef Conclusion -Extremely disappointing -I should have known better given easy booking and lack of reviews -Go elsewhere.
Beautiful food and perfect service- all with a gorgeous view over Tokyo. What a lovely dinner! The first course was a beautiful plate of amuse bouches. Probably the best fish we ever had. So many inventive and delicious dishes beautifully plated and served with information about the ingredients and preparation. Gorgeous breads with French butter- what a treat. Wines paired wonderfully well with the courses. At sunset in May the bar next door where we went for a pre dinner drink - not part of the restaurant- had almost all the blinds drawn- understandable due to the blinding sunlight- but we might have tried the first floor lounge instead. The maitre’d knew we were there early and rescued us (without us asking) by providing our very nice view table a bit early.
