Calling all Michelin Inspectors, you must try this place! A hidden gem in Ginza, incredibly refined and tasty. So much care has been put into every dish.
Food and ambiance matches expectations - warm intimate interiors, and delicious dishes that's pleasant to the eyes. There is a slight feeling of nostalgic Ginza in the 80s, which can be refreshing.
The dining experience at this restaurant was outstanding. The attention to detail, imagination, mix of flavors, plating. It was truly an unforgettable meal. Highlights were the blue cheese macarons, the potato-leek shredded cake and the mustard sauce with the fish dish. One of our party was vegetarian, and we let chef Nakijin know about it in advance, and he cooked a whole alternate set of dishes to accommodate them.
Visiting for lunch on a weekend. We ordered the set menu, which for Ginza, is probably a good deal. Every dish was well prepared and very creative. The service was great for the most part. There are so few tables that there seemed to be lack of privacy. You could hear and see the tables near you so clearly - perhaps it is too well-lit there. The restaurant is in the basement so no windows - perhaps that's why we felt a bit squeezed in the space? It's not that the tables are close together, but it just didn't feel very comfortable. Also, it was very annoying that they had to ask for my business card to write the receipt. I guess this is Japanese style? It's none of their business what my business card says. I just simply wanted a receipt and they asked me for a business card. The restaurant being very small, all the other customers turned to watch us have that conversation with the waiter which was quite unpleasant. The food was good, but not good enough for me to want to go back anytime soon.
