Located in the heart of Tokyo, Obana is a charming Japanese restaurant renowned for its grilled eel, or unagi. With a cozy ambiance that invites diners to enjoy a meal in a tranquil setting, it's a place that exudes a sense of traditional Japanese hospitality. Diners often queue up before opening time, underscoring its popularity and the quality of its offerings. While the unagi is the star of the menu, the service is frequently praised, with staff known for their warmth and attentiveness. Despite mixed reviews regarding pricing and wait times, the experience of savoring expertly prepared eel in a peaceful atmosphere makes Obana a unique culinary destination worth exploring.

Disappoined, REALLY NOT WORTH I found this restaurant famous for grilled eel fish from Google Map, but I felt very very disappointed after visiting the place for dinner with my friend. First, the menu placed on Google was a few years ago, the price has gone up a lot, the medium eel fish rice cost Yen 6xxx , the large Yen 7xxx, we were asked that each of us ( two ppl) had to place at least 1 order of the above, so each person has to pay at least Yen 7xxx just for a small box of thin layer of rice and small pcs of thin grilled eel. Second, the eel looked okay in the photo but actually the meat quality was not fresh and tastless at all. In fact we were the only guests in the restaurant and we did not see anyone to queue up as mentioned in the reviews and photo. Last, the air conditioning was also poor and i sweated through eating.
A quit and beautiful transitional Japanese grilled eel restaurant. Usually people need to be there wait online before the restaurant open otherwise you won’t be get in. Food was delicious. Service was great( take time to cook ) we will definitely go back sometime.
The reward is excellent balance of Unagi and sauce. The price to pay, almost 2 hours for food. Warning: if you come later than 11am, your chances for lunch is almost zero. Went on a Wednesday and reach at 10:50am. We are already last 5th to be located seats. The queue could have started as early as 10:15-10:30am and I think there is only 4 pax that are foreigners. Anyway, the staff will tell you if you have no chance for lunch. I am on the second batch which means after entering the premise, you are to wait at the bamboo bench for another 1 hour as the food reaches the first batch around 30 mins. The staff attention to our needs is comparable to a 5-star hotel. Firstly, she came with insect repellent and place it at 3 locations around the benches. Next, she gave umbrellas to the last 2 couple in the queue seating in the open. Lastly, she bring out a bucket of fans for us fan ourselves. For the food, this is really soft. I have pieces where the skin literally peeled off by itself from the meat. And the yakitori chicken is excellent. However, probably my last trip here as the queue is tiresome. But really worth at least one time experience!
I come with my family and they don't let baby under 3 years old get in.. For me the Unagi is not that special tasty.. same as another restaurant. i like spicy food it's might not good taste for me..
