Great breakfast spot in Tokyo to have some exceptional sourdough and coffee. We had shakshouka and avocado toast, both were very delicious. The place is very popular among tourists but you will find a lot of locals as well. I would suggest coming early as the cafe can get very crowded.
Stunning artisan bakery with a dine in menu as well as a selection of pastries and breads to take away. I enjoyed the sausage roll with spices, as well as the carrot salad. There are some individual two person tables but if you are alone you’ll probably be seated on the ‘communal’ long dining table. There is a terrace with heaters in the winter. Note that you need to grab a table first and then go order at the counter. The interior design and general attention to detail gives this place a special feeling. The style is a mix of Japanese folkhouse rustic and western elements. Most of the ceramics are vintage and some have been repaired with gold lacquer.
Nice pastry, milky latte, and impractical queue system that customers do not deserve. To get table to need to register near the cashier and get a slip. Then queue outside (not warm) for a table, and then after you have a table come back to the cashier to order but you can’t see the pasty when you are ordering. Waited 20 Minutes outside knowing there are empty tables that have not been cleared. Pasty is on par with top rung bakers. Go to the many very good tokyo specialty coffee shops if you are a coffee lover, else you might be disappointed. Here is a heck: the outside tables are free for all, so occupy one and you don’t need to queue. I think the regulars know this. There was a family of 3, left their Tesla model X on the road in front of the cafe with hazard lights on, and went for the outside tables, and had breakfast leisurely while all the cars were trying to going around the Tesla along the small 2 way street !!!
When you arrive at Bricolage Bread & Co., you need to take a ticket and wait for a table. No problem. However it's only once your number comes up and you get a table that you can join the queue to order your food. This means everyone spends a lot of time sitting at an empty table, and the turnover of tables is slower as a result. The pastries are delicious, the coffee is excellent (though expensive) and the brunch options look amazing...but the pointlessly long wait makes it hard to recommend.
