Never have I had such an enjoyable full tempura meal. A very small establishment which only serves limited amount of customers every night as there is only 1 chef. Every piece is so well done and the flavors are just amazing. Importantly you do not feel the oiliness and sickness from eating too much fried food. Absolutely a must.
One of the best tempura omakase in Tokyo- that is reservable on table check. The uni tempura was very sweet. Highly recommended
A rare treat to be able to watch a Michelin 2-star chef at close range cooking for a maximum of 8 guests.
We had dinner at Tempura Ginya, and it was one of highlights of our restaurant experiences. There are only nine counter seats and if you are lucky enough to get one you are in for a real speciel dinning experience. A very wise Japanese friend told me the first rule in eating tempura is when the chief puts the finish piece in front of you eat it do nor wait. Our meal started with the crisppy leggs of shrimp, which were wonderful, next came the sprimp which were heavenly. Each bit of tempura was make from the freshs ingredients and cooked perfectly. But not only was the food great, we had the honor of watching a tempura master at work. Watching the tempura being prepared was like seating next to Yo Yo Ma as he played the Cello or seating next Stephen Curry shooting basketballs. Every movement had purpose, from cutting vegetables to changing the cooking oil he moved like a ballerina. Our three hour meal was over so fast. One final word if you are a person who can not live without checking your smart phone during a three hour dinner, please chose another restaurant. It is rude both to the other guest and the tempura master. You are also losing because you are missing the “show”. Go enjoy!
