Den was the most magical first dinner on our trip to Japan. From the incredible food, to the lively and vibrant atmosphere, to the most amazing hospitality - it was a meal to write home (and a review) about. I cannot thank the whole team enough for what will be a very hard meal to beat.
If you’re lucky enough to get a reservation here, prepare for a truly memorable experience. Den Tokyo encourages you to feel at home in their relaxed atmosphere, it lacks the pretentiousness and stiffness of other Michelin restaurants. Their Den salad with the emoji carrot features over a dozen separate vegetables each cooked in a different way, and the DFC parody chicken is culinary surgery to put it short. Everything down to the tableware and ceramics is locally sourced, and the staff, despite being busy, still find the time to have a casual chat with you. Chef Hasegawa is an absolute character, and we were lucky enough to meet Den mascot Puchi Jr! This was a meal I’ll remember for a lifetime. I can only hope Den Tokyo receives their 3rd Michelin Star, which is truly deserved.
This is the hardest table to get in Tokyo. Staff are compassionate and kind. Worth the effort to attempt to get in. Chef Zaiyu and Noriko san are truly amazing!
Of course you need to call endless times to book and only luck can get you a table. But once you go through the door Chef Zaiyu, his wife Emi and one of the friendliest teams we ever met make you feel at home in seconds. It is not just the seasonal and meaningul cuisine or the attention to detail up to a different towel per guest, but the infectious kindness of the team that makes you want to come back as soon as you leave. What a treat for our honeymoon! Thank you so much!
