An excellent meal. Every dish was quite impressive and distinct. The wine pairing was also nice. Each glass wasn’t an insane amount of wine which meant I was comfortably buzzed by the end of the meal. Portions wise I was also full by the end of the meal. Overall it was a great dining experience. The chef can speak English so he would explain things In Japanese followed by an English explanation afterwards which was much appreciated.
We loved every second at this amazing restaurant! All the dishes were excellent with special ingredients and really good attention to detail. The chef explained all the dishes and we could really see the inspiration of Thai cuisine. Taste was incredible and I can for sure recommend this place!! Also quite good wine pairing (French only)
The staff disregarded the well advanced booking for 5, and seated us in a table for 4 (Tight, but who cares, right?). The food was not tasty or well prepared enough for the price charged, which is wayyy too high. I can’t understand what’s the fuzz about Dona Bia, where people wait for hours to be seated. Foreign waiters try their best to accommodate the customers’ requests, but the managers are rude and treat the restaurant simply as a business, disregarding the customers wellbeing. BTW, the main door is always open, and flies and mosquitos keep coming in, to land on us and our food…Also, the menu might include dishes that are frustratingly not available. For a restaurant that charges around 40 € per person this is unacceptable. This used to be a good restaurant worth trying in the region of Comporta, but honestly save your money for better experiences and tastes in Tróia peninsula and elsewhere in Portugal… Ps - I’m a Portuguese and I know how some main Portuguese dishes and deserts should taste like. Trust me, some of them are not even closer to how they should in Dona Bia…
I’ve been going here for decades. This is not just good value for incredible food; this is, far and wide, one of the best restaurants in the world - the fish is just incredible! I will definitely keep coming back… again and again, hopefully for many more decades!
