I had taken my friends to Aaheli for lunch. My friends , who are from Delhi, wanted to visit a restaurant serving authentic Bengali food, and experience a fine dining experience. But frankly I was disappointed though my friends liked it. We ordered luchi ( fried bread), cholar dal, (lentils) jhinge alu posto, ( veggies) pabda mach ( fish) in the main course. The cooking was most ordinary, and the service poor. The only good thing was the ambiance, it was classy with kansha (bell metal) traditional tableware, all the staff decked up in traditional Bengali attire, and live music The cooking quality needs to be improved.
Nice ambiance. Food quality is good but price is extremely high which unjustified. Service is quite good.
Excellent food in a clean and pleasant environ. New innovative ways of presenting and preparing age old traditional Bangali fare - like rui maacher patishopta and stuffed parshey maach fry and boneless ilish maach. We were served and looked after by a very engaging young man Kushal who was very attentive and explained the dishes.
We had our lunch at Aheli. We are coming here for last 30 years. Today we had the newly launched item Aheliana ( TDH). Excellent taste and display. Served on Kansa plates. We enjoyed all the items they served. The behaviour and professionalism of the staff members, especially of Mr. Spandan and Mr. Pradipta Bhaskar Mukherjee were exemplary. If you want to have Bengali cuisine then Aheli is the best in the town.
