Went to Sorrento for an Italian dinner with a lot of expectations. Was seated promptly. The ambience is nice with an open kitchen. We were served an amuse-bouche of smoked breads and tapenade ( Finely chopped olives in its own oil). The breads were well smoked and went very well with the delicious Tapenade. A good start to the meal. Ordered the Grappa Negroni and Calm you Down. Both were well mixed. Recommended. Ordered the truffle burrata on a bed of mushrooms. Fresh and tasty but would have been even better if the mushrooms were little pickled or paired with some sundried tomatoes. The arancini was tasty but have tasted better. The wild mushroom risotto was excellent and recommended. We ordered a pepperoni pizza but were disappointed after the risotto. Lacked flavour. All ingredients were fresh. The service was by and large good except that we had to request for water to be refilled and the billing took a while. Normally, as we had informed regarding a birthday in our group, a five star service would have ensured a small gesture. This was lacking. Maybe economics have caught up and only prices of dishes become exorbitant. Only a few Hotels go that extra mile. Anyway, all in all a good experience.
Excellent all around. Surprisingly one of the best things was the complimentary foccacia bread. That was divine! One of the best bread I've had (sadly no photo). It came with this semi pureed olive, which is the perfect pairing. The pasta were all delicious. The tuna steak was just average. The portion is on the smaller side. We weren't too hungry, but wish that we had tried the pizza as well. Definitely a nice experience, and a good break from the local cuisine
We went there many times, what to noticed was if you do the unlimited food order, eat as much as you want. All the food tend to be very salty!! This could be one of their tactic not letting you eat much because of the sodium that makes you drink more water. Even though I went back for 2nd 3rd time and ask them not to put too much salt but it’s still the same. Or else of you order A’lacarte which is still salty but not that much. We know Indian people love eating salty food but the chefs should learn and know when the waiters getting order from us, they could just tell chefs to reduce salt as we are expats not Indian.
