Highly overrated restaurant. While the dimsums were very good, the portions were tiny (3 dimsums/plate). Also, though the sparkling wine went well with the dimsums, a serving of 125 ml seemed too little to even wet one's throat. The main course: the handpulled noodles seemed no different from the ones served by roadside Chinese vans. The red snapper, too, resembled more a macher-jhol than a Cantonese preparation. Cocktails were limited and alcohol was exhorbitantly priced. Only one beer was available. The sommelier/maître d'hôtel suggested a white wine to go with the braised lamb and the red snapper. But both dishes being rather spicy, the wine seemed bland alongside, and failed to make any impression whatsoever. Naturally, the sommelier lacks training. Either Michelin has gone to the dogs, or the supposed star is a hoax! Not worth the near 10 grand paid for the lunch (2 adults and a 7-year-old kid). Upon enquiry, was told that the chef only cooks in the Bombay restaurant. Total disaster!
I went for dinner and our table sampled a few different items on the dimsum menu and everything was extremely delicious and well presented. Many of the items on the menu I recognised as being authentically dimsum. Others though with a modern twist (such as the truffle and edamame dumplings) elevated and paid homage to traditional dimsum. I'd highly recommend going here. I've taken a star off because the decor is woefully lacking in creativity and taste.
Hassan was great! He was very receptive to what we needed and recommended portion appropriate for our family size. Had a fun experience!
Food was absolutely amazing. Hassan took good care of us! Very sweet guy. Definitely coming here again. The Plumber Jasmine desert that Hassan suggested is a must try.
