Everything was good, but just lacking this final touch. Spring rolls were premade- fried, but cold inside. Loved the dim sum. Have had a lot of Tom Kha Gai, but this chef is overly fond of galangal. Restaurant has a bar service and a tad overly anxiously maid selling sweet ice teas too pushily. And not too helpful with actual solutions (that got well solved at the end). Atmo is nice, simple, good outdoors options for the last days left of summer on Hiiumaa.
Neat little authentic and clean place with warm food all day from lunchtime. Food was very good. Defenitly get the DimSum and note: spicy means spicy! Because summer season is over, it only opens 3 days a week :( Very cosy inside (like a living room) but many outside tables. Enough parking around 👍
Kao Thai is our go-to Thai place for delivered takeout dinners. But this time, for the first time since Covid began, we met for an in-restaurant meal. The food was fine as always. My consistent favorites have been dishes that I usually haven’t gone to at other Thai restaurants. For instance their Dragon Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice, the Tilapia, and Larb Gai. Surprisingly, some of my all-time favorites — especially Gai Tom Kha soup -- haven’t been as successful for me. I was reminded again that when the restaurant is even half full, it’s hard to carry on a conversation. We’ll always be regulars, but we’ll probably stick to takeout.
For the first time since Covid shut things down, we ate indoors at Kao Thai. A fitting closing of parentheses since a meal at Kao Thai was also the last meal we ate in a restaurant just as things were beginning to shut down in 2020. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and a chicken with cashews dish…both were excellent, and we had some to take home for lunch the next day.
