I had an amazing experience at Olde Hansa, a restaurant with a medieval theme that is exceptionally well-crafted. The ambiance transports you back in time, with detailed decorations and a warm, candle-lit atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. I tried a vegetarian dish with turnips, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich, unique, and memorable. The staff were fantastic—they fully embraced the medieval theme, not just with their costumes but also with their friendly and immersive attitude. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique dining experience paired with great food and an unforgettable atmosphere.
The most interesting about the restaurant was all the ambiance and how you really feel in the medieval age. The food was ok, really traditional. My favorite was the salad. The main dish was veal and the sauce was pretty tasty but the rest it was ok. They don’t have regular beers.. they only have special beers with spices.
Turned up for our 7:45pm reservation and was left waiting for 45 minutes for our table, along with at least 25 other people. We had no communication about the status of our table, and when we asked three times politely, we were ignored every time. It seemed as though they had over booked. We left when it was suggested to us that we go and stand near the table that was allocated to us in the hope that the people that were on our table would leave (apparently they were asked to leave at 7pm and hadn’t …) no one was taking control of the situation and there was a queue of approximately 20 people trying to get up the stairs to even get to the table. Awful organisation. Terrible service. We left after 1 hour of waiting and had to try multiple restaurants to try and find somewhere to eat.
Excellent experience and fabulous food. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu telling us how the recipes were put together from ancient practices and local food. For such a marvelous menu prices were reasonable as were drinks. Our gluten free friend was easily catered for (apparently they didn't have gluten in the 14th century, but he advised the kitchen anyway). All 6 of us had a great time and were really full after!!
