I will remember this meal for a long time, one of the best solo dining experiences I have ever had. Walked in to ask if I could use the bathroom and ended up staying for hours. Had the entire downstairs to myself, it’s far more interesting than the courtyard at ground level. The combination of stone walls, dim lighting, natural material furniture, and downtempo music was truly phenomenal. The history is a little hard to access in written form but they do have a fascinating explainer video on demand via QR codes. Really adds to the atmoshere. Staff were extremely friendly, quick and happy to offer suggestions. The make did take a while to arrive but was absolutely worth it, tasted magnificent and perfectly complimented by the house beer.
As people are mentioning, this a very authentic place to eat in Talinn. We enjoyed the tasty food served by a polite staff. The atmosphere brings you back in history. You will find from the menu the story of this place during the last few centuries. The prices are affordable comparing with the rest of restaurants from the old town. I definitely recommend it.
I'd read and heard great things about their dumplings, so I headed over to Fersen in the early evening after taking a walk in Old Town hoping to give them a try. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Despite being within what their Facebook page had listed as opening hours, the signboard outside and the door being open/lights on, when I stepped inside I was rather brusquely told they were closed. I'm not sure if the advertised hours on Facebook are incorrect or they didn't like the look of me but either way it made me reluctant to go back and try again. It's a shame, because from what I saw of the interior it looked like a great little place. Maybe it would be wisest to book ahead if you want to visit - I wasn't really able to do that on this visit.
Very beautiful place, calming, relaxing music and quite interesting decoration and traditional. The staff is so nice. The hot wine was so wonderful and tasteful.
