Great venue for a celebration, perfect location, good customer service when booking the table no need for deposit, easy ordering food and drinks don’t have to worry about splitting bills. Great vibe for dancing after dinner, good music a bit of everything. Will definitely be back.

This was our first time hosting the Hairhouse Northland Christmas party at Captain Baxter, and from start to finish, the experience was fantastic! Becky and Elise made everything effortlessly smooth compared to other venues we’ve used in the past. We’re definitely planning to come back for our next Christmas party and will be booking again soon. Thank you to Captain Baxter and the entire team!”

Wandered out to St Kilda on a wintery cold and wet day and decided to see if we could get lunch somewhere. Saw Captain Baxters and thought we'd give it a try. Sat inside looking straight out on the water through floor to cieling glass and watched as the weather turned into a storm. Just perfect. The "snack" items we had were a little on the small side, really just a bite each. Packed with flavour though in spite of that. The mains we got to share were both outstanding. Due to the weather the place wasn't overly busy, and along with some great background music and pleasant staff, it made for a very cruisy Sunday lunch.

I need to premise this by saying that I am never one to like to complain but a group of us felt so let down by the service recieved by this venue that I wanted to forewarn anyone. We (party of 3) arrived at the venue on Sunday at approximately 2.45pm. It was a cracker of a day and we knew the venue would be busy, but as somewhere thats well known - you kind of assume that staffing levels will be appropriate. We found a spare table in the sun and proceeded to sit down and use the QR code to order food and beverages. Whilst waiting for our items, we realised a small peice of paper (half falling off) that table that said the table was held at 3.30pm. We asked the staff if it was possible to have the food and drinks sent to another space as we wanted to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and the attitude from multiple staff members was nothing short of disgusting. We ordered almost $300 from the menu and were told “You will have to find somewhere as we are full, this is your fault” to which we were shocked. At no point were we advised of a future booking and sure, we should have maybe noticed the signage previously but all we had asked was to have a tiny space (ANYWHERE - even standing) to be able to at least finish the food we had ordered. We were told by the wait staff that we had to move and that they couldnt help. We were even told “My manager agrees this is your fault, so move, we have no tables for you” and if i could explain the facial expressions, man if looks could kill. We then standed awkwardly for almost ten minutes desperately trying to find somewhere to sit. We ended up finding a space to share with two girls and then proceeded to have our dirty plates sitting on the table with us for almost 90 minutes, after asking if staff could kindly take it away. As mentioned, I never complain but I am shocked by the way we were treated and regardless of how busy an establishment may be, there is a way to treat people and this is not the kind of hospitality melbourne is famous for. I will be sharing this experience as much as i can. Do better guys.
