Located in the heart of Melbourne, France-Soir is a charming French bistro that transports diners straight to Paris with its authentic ambiance and delectable cuisine. Since opening its doors in 1986, this beloved establishment has become a local favorite, renowned for its friendly French waitstaff and cozy atmosphere. One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Delicious French food, cheeky and friendly French waiters, the ability to bring your own wines on a couple of days each week. It’s just a fantastic place. I’ve lost count of the great times I’ve had here. I’m going to keep coming back and back
Listen up everyone because if you haven’t been to this place before then it’s a call to book a table n give them a try!! I’ve heard of this magnificent small French diner being one of the best in town, it’s one of the oldest restaurants in the city & the first French in Melbourne since 1986! Here’s what we tried, - Escargot - Ice berg salad - pan seared calamari - Fillet Steak - steak stew in wine sauce Quality of the meats were outstanding & very conveniently priced! The escargots were so fresh n cooked in an amazing pesto sauce that took us back in time to Paris! N the steaks were cooked to perfection as we love them medium rare! The place is very cozy with limited tables & gives you a great chance to mingle with people on the tables next to you! Definitely going there again n again!!
The food and service very good. Extensive but overpriced wine list. At least you can now also sit outside for lunch or dinner, as the interior space is very narrow and cramped. Not comfortable seating and too many tables squeezed in so tightly. Extremely noisy and hard to order dishes with waiter, although they are efficient.
Another excellent mid week lunch at France Soir.Great buzz in the restaurant. We loved the anchovies as starters and the slow cooked duck for mains. For dessert the tarte tartin was first rate.Excellent prompt service plus its BYO (no corkage).Cost was circa $110 per head.Very good value
