The atmosphere is good as usually. It is my second time being there since last December my Birthday. These food tasted alright, good looking, however not worth the price at all. Not sure what’s happened, being diarrhea whole night after having these. Did not take the photo of chips, cause it was overcooked. The service makes me uncomfortable. I gave $20 cash as tip as we would like to be polite enough to the staff serve me and my partner, however the staff was staring at us, looks like the tips was too little. I do not feel being treated well through the whole time. Definitely won’t come back again. It ruined my birthday, feeling really sad.
Amazing Surprise lunch. The staff was awesome and accompanied by delicious food. Had my Birthday lunch there and the staff all came to wish me. Holding up to its name, and it remains as 1 of the best French restaurants in Brisbane.
Been meaning to go back to Montrachet ever since it moved from Paddington. The meals & experience enjoyed at the previous location were outstanding. We were a table of 4 (2 couples) for one couple’s 25th wedding anniversary. Had the 5 course Saturday lunch special & every dish delivered the goods. Confit duck was legendary. Service was friendly, efficient, & a glass was never empty in front of us. The whole operation is a credit to the new owner who stopped by to explain the menu. I do hope Brisbane continues to support this establishment. TripAdvisor does not allow half stars. It was a 5 star experience but there was one small lapse that really grinds my gears. Beers were listed with their origin alongside e.g. Kronenbourg ‘1664’ - Strasbourg, Alsace, France. As a beer nerd, I know the beer is brewed under licence in Australia. It’s not imported from France (like the wines listed in a similar manner) so why try to give the impression it is. Our waiter was also under the false impression the beer was imported. Asahi, Heineken, & Peroni are all similarly brewed under licence in Australia. And, Green Beacon Wayfarer was listed but we all know that’s owned by Asahi. So, the wine list was awesome but the beer selection was a let-down. A restaurant with food this good deserves to have a great selection of beer. Range Brewing will sort you out with some beers from one of the best breweries in Australia.
Initially a good impression, very well set out restuarant and the service level from the wait staff was good. It did seem they were afraid of the Maitre D. Menu is a little confusing, but eventually sorted it out. We chose the three course menu. Unfortunately this is where for me things went left field. For the main, I ordered the "Barbequed White Pyrenees lamb rump". Presentation was good. The lamb was covered by the zuchini flower. I then cut into the lamb, it was so rare it literally, could have been cut off the lanb whilst the lamb was running toward the barbeque, never actually getting to the barbeque. It was cold (less than 35 degrees C) and bloody. I did not eat it as I like my meat dishes at the very least hot. My partner had the Catch of the day. It too was under cooked in that when fish (generally) is served with skin on, the skin should be crispy. The skin was soft and not properly cooked. At this stage of course I was dissapointed in what we had been served. But that was not the final straw. When the bill was presented I signed for $238.00. When the credit card went though my bank it was $241.57?? who knows for what, I don't care as it is a small adjustment, but I do think any and all charges should be reflected on the bill. Will I return? Up until I was served the cold bloody lamb and fish, yes, but after the lamb and fish dishes, absoultely not.
