We have driven past here for years. We finally stop here today for brunch. The restaurant has been here for years but still look fresh inside. The menu was not overwhelming; first sign that this was the right choice. The waitress, Erin, went through different menu item in details. Second sign we made the right choice. I settled for the Apple French Toast and chicken sausage and my wife ordered the chicken waffle. The meal was scrumptious. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Who knows I may just order the same meal. That is how good it was...ummmm. I am hungry for more already.
Even though we did not make a reservation we were able to grab a seat at the bar and received faster service than we probably would've at a table. The bar tender was awesome!! We tried the chicken and waffle which is made of cornmeal but it's delicious. The shrimp and grits you just try and you can't go wrong with their famous blueberry pancakes. Everything about our visit was fantastic. We will return!
Amazing food, great staff that is attentive and quick. This is a true comfort food spot and you might need a nap afterwards. Today’s favorite was the Sweet Potato Shakshuka. A very nice twist on the traditional dish. We’ve been a few times and I will say one draw back is how popular it is. If you want ease, make a reservation ahead of time or you could be in for a long wait. We decided to get a reservation for 5 right at 9. We got seated promptly at a large comfortable half booth. As we were leaving we noticed a bit of a wait! But clearly the food speaks for itself.
Really good food and great service too. I had the Lebanese Fried rice which was amazing. My over medium-well eggs were actually cooked the way I like and there was too much food to finish. The coffee was also very good. My only negative is that they should tell you they add a 20% fee automatically to your bill for the service ‘before’ you dine. However, my service was worth it. Best meal I had in DC.
