If you're an oyster lover, Hama Hama is an absolute must-visit while in Hoodsport! I had the best raw oysters I've ever tasted here—perfectly fresh, briny, and bursting with flavor. The broiled-roasted oysters were just as delicious if not better with all the juice & the bread. The quality of the seafood is truly top-notch, and you can taste the care and expertise that goes into every dish. The service was just as impressive. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making the experience all the more enjoyable. They even served our dog water & came back & gave him treats! A big tip: **make reservations**! This place is popular for a reason, and you don't want to miss out. One of the best parts is that parking is a breeze—there's plenty of it, so no need to worry about finding a spot. Also, be sure to check out the on-site store before you leave. It’s full of great souvenirs and local goodies, the perfect way to take a little piece of Hama Hama home with you. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a perfect mix of excellent food, great service, and a warm atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!
These were the best oysters I've ever had. Usually not a fan of oysters, but these are amazingly fresh. Salty, but not too strong, great texture not slimy at all. The roasted ones were good, however the plain ones are probably the better deal. They also have a really good hot sauce you can use on them which really elevates the flavor. Clam chowder was also good, but I've had better, however it's a good snack while waiting for a seat. I highly recommend making the trip here if you love oysters or if you're around the area definitely stop by
Upon arrival it felt like a disorganized base camp for adventurers. But because we had a reservation for 6 ( highly recommended and worth the cost) we were promptly ushered and guided to a unique and very enjoyable afternoon. Three generations plus our grandson’s pup in an ingenious heated open end plywood a-frame with a view right out of Sunset Magazine. Teens, hipsters, little kids, grandparents and all other sorts mingled eating amazing chowders, grilled and raw oysters. AND FRIES! Great draft beers too. We only came 90 minutes from the east side of the sound but we all agreed, we came to a very special place.
Hama Hama Oyster Saloon has nice folks, a great vibe and wonderful food. We got there just as lunch service was starting and had a quick grilled cheese and chowder. It was delicious. We'd love to find ourselves back here sometime to have a more leisierly meal in the neat outdoor space they're created.
