Really fabulous sushi, very high quality fish, and friendly service! Very helpful waiter/sommelier who described all the dishes to us to help us pick what we wanted.
Great place for dinner. The restaurant is cozy and service is attentive. We sat at a booth and everyone in our party each had the Whole Note omakase. We did not do any of the formal wine or sake pairings offered and instead ordered sake and beer a la carte. I'm posting pictures of everything we had that evening. I could imagine this being a nice place to bring a date. Dinner was delicious and well paced. Can highly recommend this restaurant.
While driving on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, I noticed that the old Bizen restaurant had reopened as "Note" so I decided to stop in. The place is beautifully remodeled with a sushi bar and a wine bar. There is even a picture of Toshi (the original owner) on the wall. A nice touch to a wonderful person. Everyone on the staff was very pleasant and efficient. Please be aware that "Note" only serves one piece of nigiri sushi per order. Everything I had was very fresh and quite delicious. Metered street parking is available but it's tough to find a spot. My only real issue was with the price - It's VERY expensive.
I had been looking forward to this meal. Infatuation gave it a "9". said it was great. If you love sushi...go for the baby amberjack if they have it...or the cured salmon or the uni. If you want traditional Japanese cooked food the black cod is absolutely insane. You'll want to eat it slowly, savoring every perfect morsel where salt meets sweet. You'll have sake or wine paired in exquisite match ups to each course and then the bill will come. And you will actually be happy to pay the very expensive 300 dollar meal plus 20 percent tip. That's how good it is. And just as you do, a hostess will ask you to get up from your seat and move (even though you were just about ready to leave anyway) You'll check your watch and see that it's only been one hour and 34 minutes since your reservation time. So for 1 hour and 34 minutes at $360 you'll realize that was more money that the best therapist, manicure and bottle of champagne combined...and you'll feel slighted by the fact that the restaurant wasn't even full. That's when two things happen, you decide Sushi Note just went from a 5 star meal to a 3 at best. and you'll wonder if you are ever going back, even though you spent a good portion of your dinner imagining who the next friend you'd take there would be. Sad to say...it was a bad hostess move. Other than that...food, atmosphere, wait staff fantastic!
