So we had been hearing so much about this place we decided to stop in and try it. We ordered the 2 meat platter with smoked turkey breast and pulled pork. We also ordered the brisket enchiladas. For sides we ordered the mac and cheese and the sweet corn casserole. The smoked turkey was dry and the flavor was okay. The pulled pork was bland and marginal at best. The brisket enchiladas were fantastic and definitely worth trying. The mac and cheese was decent. The sweet corn casserole was delicious and one of the better sweet corn dishes we've had. They did not serve any of the usual side fixings like pickles, onions, or jalapenos which was very disappointing. The sweet tea was not very sweet either. Finally the interior decor was a bit spartan. There are only windows on one side of the restaurant so you feel like you're eating inside a tomb. The seating is awkward at best. With that said, I would not recommend Brett's. If you're in the Katy area there are many other better options.
It’s small but they have a nice Texas Bar B Que atmosphere. The brisket is exceptional, the ribs are some of the best in Katy and I like the spice in the sausage. I had Mac n cheese as well as potato salad and they were both excellent! The new location is a huge improvement over the Mason Road location, but the food continues to be top notch!
Gift card through use of the QR code is not reliable. The online merchant account used for processing gift card is not reliable as it purchased 5 cards when I only wanted one. I tried to resolve this several times with the manager and owner with no resolve. BRETTS BBQ customer service in this aspect is horrible and worst I have ever experienced. I had to decline all 5 through my credit card company. Due to this poor customer experience I will not be visiting this establishment again.
Out of town visitor and my family says this is the best in town. So why wouldn’t I try it?!? The decor is basic bbq in the south. I could name 4-5 places that look just like it. I got brisket, ribs, wings (daily special $1 each) corn pudding and jalapeño slaw. The brisket was okay. I thought it was drier than a lot I have had. The ribs were great. The chicken was good too. The corn pudding was my favorite thing. It was really good. The slaw was interesting. Raw Cabbage, onions, jalapeños, carrots in some kind of a vinegary dressing. It was very crunchy, but just okay. Overall it was a good lunch, but I have had better.
