CASH ONLY. Ranch burger with add on of grilled onions—-ehhhh….Fatso’s Last Stand burgers are way better & tastier for sure. So we are heading there now. 1/2 pound shrimp was also ordered and although it was homemade and French fried, the shrimp really hardly had any flavor without the mild sauce. Mediocre at best for $11.29 per half pound. SOGGY fries :-(. Looking forward to our go-to of Fatso’s Last Stand. At least we tried Redhot Ranch. Not sure what the hype was.
the fresh cut fries are crispy and perfectly cooked. the burgers are simple, juicy, and bursting with flavor. it's worth using the ATM. true core sit down meal. if you like cheese try side of cheddar with your fries, too.
In the area and it was suggested that we try this spot for lunch… supposedly one of Chicago’s best dogs… NOT! I’d try the burgers or shrimp if we return and definitely would enjoy the fries! The dogs were boiled Vienna dogs on a typical rosen’s seeded bun but the toppings were lacking and poorly applied. Mustard, raw onion, hot peppers or ketchup are your only options. No pickle, tomatoes, grilled onions or celery salt, which I defer. The slathered on huge slop of mustard rendered the bun into a soggy mess and was hard to handle. No char broiled dogs here! Best HD is still Poochies but these fries were among the best! I’d return but not for the dogs!
When my wife and I last stopped at RedHot Ranch, it was located at 2072 North Western Avenue. Since then, it has relocated to 2449 West Armitage Avenue in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. At that time, we were on a different mission, to find the city's best Chicago-style hot dogs. RedHot Ranch's version was ranked among the top three and we wanted to see if it was as good as advertised. It was. On this occasion, however, we were seeking to determine if RedHot Ranch's RHR Burger also deserved to be ranked among the best in the city. RedHot Ranch has an interesting history. In 2005, Barry Nemerow and Jeff Greenfield opened 35th Street Redhots in Bridgeport. They wanted to reintroduce the city to the original Chicago-style hot dog often referred to as the "Depression Dog," which was debuted in 1929, a hot dog with mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers and fresh cut fries. Their idea caught fire and they opened new locations in Bucktown and Lakeview. In 2013, Nemerow and Greenfield were eating burgers in an In-N-Out restaurant in Las Vegas when they were struck by another inspiration. They launched the RHR burger--fresh patties of crispy, caramelized beef with melted cheese, mustard, ketchup, sport peppers, lettuce, tomato, onions and special sauce. Also try RedHot's Alaskan cod fish sandwich with a fried fish filet, American cheese, lettuce and tartar sauce and its famous French Fried Shrimp. With cheddar fries. Then wash it all down with a chocolate or strawberry shake.
