The pork belly was amazing, the artichoke hearts and squash were also very good. The one dish that was disappointing was the porchetta, it sounds better than what it tastes. It tasted like thanksgiving turkey. Overall the food was very good! The spicy margarita was nice and balanced. Some portions are shareable which is nice because you get to try several dishes. The service was great!
Wonderful brunch. Awesome 2 inch thick slab of bacon that was more like a cut of port belly. The Benedict had crispy prosciutto instead of ham - yumm! The crepes had a tad bit too much cream cheese for my liking but tasted delicious. The environment was loud and welcoming. Great friendly service too.
We've been to The Publican numerous times; it's one of my spouse's favorite places. Usually, we're seated at one of the booths along the wall but this time, we were seated at the end of one of the long tables in the middle of the room. The din! I had to shriek to be heard across the table! I also had a hard time finding anything I was interested to eat; the menu badly needs a refresh as it's changed very little in years. And while the oysters we ordered were pristine and delicious ($43 for a dozen); the duck and pork rillettes w blueberry compote were good; and the roasted delicate squash with labneh and pomegranate was tasty; the porchetta was thin, small, over salted and buried under a pile of veggies; not worth ordering. I could not wait to get out of there. I will say, however, that most of the other 150 guests in this big dining hall seemed very happy to be there.
The restaurant is very nice, the servers are very attentive. The BBQ carrots and the artichoke are out of this world! Extremely delicious!!! The porchetta wasn't good... the grits was flavorless, I put salt and they tasted a little better but not good, The blueberry mostarda didn't have enough sugar/ salt so it did taste like nothing and the meat was extremely flavorless! It's not worthy.
