One of my favorite Rick Bayless restaurants, the food is always a hit. I ordered appetizers, entrees and drinks and everything was UH-AMAZING. The staff is so kind and attentive. I always come here to celebrate my family’s birthday, graduations etc. Literally one of the best restaurants in Chicago.
I plan on visiting Oaxaca one day just for the mole sauce so when I found a place that specializes in real mole sauce, an Oaxaca Mexican restaurant near the hotel, no way I was leaving the city without hitting it. I found it on the Michelin guide. Apparently it has a star. I got the Puebla Style enchiladas, classic mole dish. It was outstanding. Real mole sauce is time consuming to make and has lots of ingredients. It was the best I've had. The chicken was tender and the house made tortillas were delicious. The bits of nuts and seeds they sprinkle on top were a great touch. It's not a huge dish so I'd get the chips and salsa for $6 to make sure you leave full.
The room was very cool. Margaritas are famous and excellent. Recommend the Ceviche for sure. Food and service is excellent.
We went with two people that live in Chicago and raved about this place. I tasted foods that every one ordered. Fifteen different foods. I ended up with a bowl of guacamole with no chips. The spices covered up tastes of the food that they were serving. It was difficult to clear the pallet for another food to taste. Truly not a restaurant for those who want food to taste good and not spices that camouflage what is being eaten.
