I loved this restaurant. I rarely get a chance to dine at fancy restaurants, but I was in Chicago for the weekend with a friend, and we decided to treat ourselves! The staff at Obélix were very courteous, and the food was delicious. We both got espresso martinis, and my friend got the Moroccan carrots and an escargot dish, I got the pistachio croissant (which looked like a work of art, I almost didn't want to eat it! ALMOST), and the pumpkin french toast. Everything tasted heavenly, and I will definitely be back!
This restaurant exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. Highly recommend sharing all courses even the French onion soup to be able to sample as much as possible. It is a tight space and recommend 4 or less. A lot of date nights were in the room but also great for friends. The service was on point, not only Alexa did fabulous but the entire team worked to make it a great experience! Definitely going back and may have to start with the dessert and not sharing the Paris Brest this time, Lol
We'd been for dinner and once for lunch; this was our first brunch at Obelix but I hope not the last. The joint was buzzing, every table filled, but we were still seated at our 1:30 reservation time. Menus came promptly, also coffee and tea just a couple minutes after ordering them while we studied the menu. So many good things to order it was hard to choose. The raw oysters came promptly; there was a fairly long wait for the main courses but they were worth waiting for when they arrived: the lobster crepe for one of us and the other 2 of us ordered the foie gras with blueberry pancakes. Yummy; we left nothing on the plates. And we had a good time.
French food done right! Met a friend that I hadn't seen in a while. Started with a glass of wine (outstanding wine list) and some escargots. YUM. I had the quiche that was light and airy. Friend had the soft eggs. She loved them. YUM. 3 piece dessert was a housemate malomar, a macaron and a caramel. YUM again. I had a doppio. Absolutely lovely. Great place for lunch.
