TLDR: pricy but better than any lounge food or restaurant around. I got seated at a relatively quiet hour, too early for lunch. Music is calming, the few dishes already out had amazing scents, and the aesthetic is smart and immediately takes you outta the airport and into downtown. Kenneth had an opinion and a personality and I love it. The staff know the menu, know what they like, and are attentive to you. The hamachi tiradito is so good. Far better than an appetizer should be. I went with a dragon roll and the amount of eel is discreet but the flavor is there. Went with the pork belly next. And boy, the wantons were packed with meat. Unexpected. Then the pork itself was strongly braised but that chili on top made it perfect. Most redeeming was the Brussels. We need more and better Brussels. Closed with the bread pudding. These guys don’t miss
I love this restaurant so much. To find good food, excellent service, and delicious beverage in an airport is exceedingly rare - so much so, I would call this a singular airport experience. The cross of global cuisine and southern US/ African diasporic roots is also, as far as I have experienced in all my travels, also singular. Yes, you will pay a little more to eat here than you will at the Chili’s… but you will create a memory and walk away nourished in more ways than any airport chain can touch. (No shade Chili’s… I darken your door in airports too!)
I like to come to this place when I have a long layover in Atlanta as today. I was surprised that now they offer breakfast. However, it was so sad to see that all the options had eggs and sugar. When I ask if they could have something alternative to eggs they said that they offer the menu, without asking if I had any dietary restrictions or anything. I also asked for something without sugar and the options were water or coffee. The coffee was not good. The waiter emphasized that I should order something more than the coffee. They gave me less than three minutes to decide which one of the options was less inconvenient. I ordered the avocado toast and it was very disappointing. It was a packaged slice of bread with avocado. I used to like the food here but I think this was the last time I’ll eat here.
I was looking forward to a pleasant lunch at One Flew South with my husband at Hartsfield-Jackson, even going out of our way to dine there from a different terminal. I’ve frequented this restaurant many times and have always recommended it for its food, wine, and service. However, this time left us deeply disappointed. To my dismay, we were told we couldn’t sit inside, despite there being plenty of space and seeing others seated there shortly after we arrived. The hostess didn’t offer any explanation, and our server couldn’t explain the decision either, only mentioning that the manager had made a choice to limit seating inside for "a few people." This felt arbitrary and disrespectful, particularly since we were dressed professionally if that’s even a concern. We felt disrespected. For a place that charges premium prices, this experience was truly disheartening. I always recommend One Flew South to friends and colleagues traveling through Atlanta, but I may have to rethink that. Despite the treatment, I tipped our server well, as this situation wasn’t her fault. I hope One Flew South’s management takes note and ensures all guests are welcomed equally in the future. Or explain the reasons as no one provided us with a logical explanation.
