Busy Bee Cafe is take-out only and no bathroom available. It was extremely busy on a Sunday night taking an hour to get the food, but we were in no hurry and it was worth the wait. Crispy fried chicken and loved the broccoli n rice side with the fried okra. Oh and the peach cobbler was delicious. Friendly staff who were supper overwhelmed with all the uber orders at the end of the night. Great food, so much more I want to try!
The Busy Bee is take out only. The waiter met us at the front door and took our order. It was ready 10 minutes later. I got the fried shrimp plate, and hubby got the chicken and waffles plate. The green beans were very salty and the fries were okay. The shrimp was okay. My hubby liked the chicken wings and and waffle.
Let me start with the only negative I could find: the restaurant does not offer dine-in service and only provides take away service. Apparently, dine in service has not been offered since the pandemic. That's literally my only negative. We arrived at Busy Bee, to find a very friendly and pretty Ambassador standing outside. Her greeting on the hot asphalt was warmer and more genuine than in most restaurants! After perusing the qr-scanned menu, we ordered what Busy Bee is famous for: fried chicken. Our 2 half chicken dinners (4 pieces each) included 2 sides each. We opted for mac and cheese, candied yams, mashed potatoes and stuffing. As we were in between appointments, we happily ate picnic style in our minivan. Popping open the food containers, you are immediately hit with an assault to the senses. Visually, the dinners looked scrumptious. The smell of every dish authentic and instantly drool worthy. Finally, the first bite of chicken, which I can describe as the closest I will ever be to a hallucinogenic experience. That chicken!!! It was insanely crispy on the outside and super moist on the inside. ,even the breast, which is normally the piece I avoid. Each of the sides was "slap your mama" good. I genuinely cannot pick my favourite.... Regardless of where you will enjoy your takeaway order, don't make the mistake of skipping this famous institution while in Atlanta. They fully deserve all the praise and flowers received from their Michelin listing and James Beard award.
Amazing dinner! Went with two others and we all chose the two-piece fried chicken meal and picked different sides to share together. Everything was fantastic - the carrot soufflé and collard greens were my favorite sides. The fried chicken was perfect!
