I think it is the best Japanese restaurant abroad. I thought Makino in Cairo, Egypt was excellent, but I was surprised that the level here was even higher. I had the opportunity to visit Dubai two weeks in a row, so I went here twice for dinner. We were staying at Raffles and found this restaurant by chance. It is located on the top floor of Raffles and was open for walk-in dinners on Saturdays. Most of the chefs seemed to be Japanese, and we felt nostalgic in the restaurant where Japanese language was spoken. I was shocked to see pork dishes on the menu. We had sushi platter, ramen, tonkatsu, unagi, pork kakuni, corn tempura, etc. on our two visits, all of which were really delicious. I had the impression that overseas, sushi in particular would be spongy tuna, salmon would still be good, and almost no other fish, but there was a wide variety and all were delicious, which made me feel that the fish was purchased from Japan and cooked by Japanese chefs. The pork dishes were also good , and I ended up eating too much. It may be expensive compared to Japan, but I think the price is reasonable if you can enjoy this quality of Japanese food overseas. I was impressed to be able to eat Japanese food of a quality that I can never have because I usually live in Pakistan. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I visit Dubai.
An all-around winner among Japanese restaurants in Dubai. Tomorrow serves traditional Japanese cuisine in an iconic hotel with scenic views. TOMO has been my favourite Japanese restaurant for years and although you can also find authentic izakayas and trendy Japanese fusion lounges, Tomo remains the best with amazing food quality, highly trained staff, Japanese chefs and immaculate attention to detail. Another perk is that the restaurant never gets too loud and you can easily have a pleasant conversation with your company throughout the evening. Tomo also offers a great daily business lunch menu at 135 AED per person, worth a try. I always recommend Tomo to friends travelling to or living in Dubai and although it may be far from the bustling areas, it’s more than worth the trip. Recommend trying: Buta kakuni Tofu appetizer Sashimi of chefs choice Sushi otoro, chutoro Unagi don In terms of pricing, Tomo is similar to most of Dubai restaurants but slightly more affordable than the restaurants in DIFC and the Palm. They also have a wonderful wine and sake menu.
Love the food- the 8 type sushi was amazing, it really was soo fresh and melt to your mouth. my husband love the Eel and i love the Ramen and gyoza. I love the passionate and knowledgeable explanation of our loving server. she so was so nice and patience with us explaining every bit of the dish we are asking her. and i would say we enjoy all ones she recommend. I appreciate the complimentary birthday and the candles with it. it such lovely to know they had effort of preparing this for me. Overall i always love coming back here and highly recommend always because of food , ambiance , the laid back cosines and especially the staffs.
I am quite often at TOMO, because I am living 200 meters far away in a sister-hotel (Sofitel/Accor). So I am very aware of the hotel, SOLO (Italian) and TOMO (Japanese). GENERAL: TOMO is meticulously designed with true Japanese precision. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and always makes me feel like part of the TOMO family. I learn a lot about them, and they always know my preferences. Thanks a lot to (plus the WHOLE TEAM!), but mentioning: MARY ATSUKO JANINE MICHAELA SANDY EHAB KALPANA THEINGI NAING INTERIOR/ATMOSPHERE I am impressed how TOMO was (and still is) improving the atmosphere in their venue. It starts when the elevator is opening - you will be warmly welcomed by reception directly, very traditional. You like traditional Japenese culture? Here you are right - 100%! The design/interior continues and gives you as a guest a good feeling and you understand the principles. It is clear, following the culture. Food: I was at TOMO for brunch most of the time, but also for a la carte. For the brunch it is amazing as well, you will be served by the table what makes it much better: You can decide what you want and you can repeat as often as you want! Again, in line with service: Japanese culture and no (!) cross-over, what I really like. SERVICE GENERAL: It is unbelievable, it doesnt matter if I contact them via Whatsapp, phone, visiting them directly: They are taking care about you and they know exactly what you had the last time and your favourites. Outstanding services and you can talk to them as everyone is really open minded. I love the team! TO THE TEAM: Please continue with your attidude, you are doing it in a perfect way. Best, Randy
