The shop smells bad on the ground floor but of you go to the first floor it is better. The prices are good and affordable. The service is faster than what I was reading in the reviews, the stuff there are welcoming and they know how to deal with people. Don't believe the reviews unless you go there, the restaurant is better than what you can read in the other reviews.
We visited early afternoon on Saturday. The place is quite simple, don't expect too much :) bit weary, but they do their best cleaning, I guess. Plastic plants for decor, but cute. We wanted to sit upstairs but waiter said no. Hm. Because when local couple walked in after some time, they let them upstairs without asking. Fine, we asked whether we can sit at the window, cute high "bar" tables, but again answer was no. They kept their phone and paperwork there, I get it. No space for back office. So they use front space of the restaurant for it, instead of letting customers sit and enjoy the view of Jumeirah street. Instead they tuck them close to kitchen. Still, I thought, maybe not a bad idea to be close to kitchen, considering I read so many reviews about slow service! However anything food-related was nice! Everything on the menu was available, all fresh and delicious. Nice salmon!!! Sad they didn't have anything with eel... But again, all that we ate was great! The waiter's attitude, I mean... You could literally see it hanging in the air. He only let a faint trace of smile on his face when he saw us leaving tips on the table. Dear owner, time for salary raise, your employees are not quite happy working at that place! Still, I would come back to this place, just for the sake of breaking through the guy's cordon and sitting upstairs!
SAMURAI SUSHI is excellent! My husband took me there for my birthday and I was so happy about it. I ordered the Binto Box with beef teriyaki and was totally awesome! I highly recommend it to those who decide to visit the restaurant in the near future.
We've been visiting this restaurant for 10+ years and have not been disappointed. They have an amazing selection of rolls to choose from. If sushi is not your thing, they also have a nice selection of Japanese standards. Staff are friendly. There are a couple of rooms you can rent for special occasions.
