I recently had the pleasure of dining at Potong, and I can honestly say it was the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had, made even more special by the incredible Chef Pam and her team. From the moment we walked in, the warmth and attention to detail were evident. The staff made us feel like family, going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our meal was perfect. The food was nothing short of extraordinary—each dish was bursting with flavor and clearly crafted with care and love. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience that showcased the heart and soul of the restaurant. The balance of flavors, the textures, and the presentation were all remarkable, showing the thought and expertise behind every plate. What truly made the evening unforgettable, however, was how Chef Pam and her team made us feel. I had just gotten engaged, and from the personalized touches to the warm congratulations, they made us feel like we were the only guests in the room. It wasn’t just the food that stood out; it was the genuine kindness and thoughtfulness that made this evening feel truly unique and meaningful. Finally we can make a booking at Potong - progressive Thai-Chinese restaurant which nestle in a century-old building of four generations, excelling in Chinese medicine. The old preserved building got a unique family story to share. The restaurant is helmed by Chef Pam - a talented young award-winning chef who embraced a unique blend of Thai and Chinese culinary techniques and flavours presented in surprising plating. Every dish is just like a symphony of flavours that evoke our five senses - from the sauce, taste, plating and interpretation. Elements of Chinese herbal medicine were adapted to pay tribute to the family’s business, complemented by Thai twist. A big compliment to every member in the restaurant who exercised attentive service making us feel welcomed and well respected. A nostalgic family history journey hacking back to 120 years old, transcending you back to the old days but we can also feel the contemporary touches Chef Pam has deployed in the service and venue renovation which took 2.5 years to complete!

This was my second visit and I was interested to compare any changes in the last 6 months. So before going into the food I’ve got to talk about the experience. This is a wonderful building deep in Chinatown. There’s an amazing back story relating to the family of Chef Pam that is at the heart of everything that happens here. Won’t spoil it by going further. The food follows the same path. Strong storylines around each dish. Most importantly all of them deliver superbly individually and as a collective. I gave it 5 stars last time and my only negative comment was I thought there was too much going on with the main. This has been rectified. The main is a triumph. The wine pairing is really interesting too. So this time the overall balance of the menu is pretty near perfect. Chef Pam came out for a chat too which always a nice touch.

A stunning dining and bar space in the heart of Chinatown. We started with cocktails at Opium which were perfect and then moved on to Potong. The dining experience was fantastic with beautiful presentation and exquisite tasting dishes blending Chinese and Thai. The service was friendly and professional.
