Overall good experience though you pay for the atmosphere not for the food.
Wonderful place to stay. It's comfortable and cozy. Wonderful selection of food and with reasonable price.
My wife and I eat ate at Asaha often as a couple and I have attended the iftar events and new years eve celebrations here. Iftar and special occasions are marked with a buffet offering and live entertainment while ordinary weeknights have á la carte offerings off a menu. The cuisine offered is that of the Levant region (Lebanon/Syria) and it is superb! The deserts aren't bad, though if you aren't used to cakes in Sudan, you're probably going to want to stick to Ohm Ali or Arabic Sweets. I enjoy the sharwama plate with a Greek Salad while Rama enjoys their Shish Tawook with Tabouleh. I turn my sharwama into a Greek style souvlaki by adding the Greek salad to the sharwama, which I love. Shisha is offered too, and the ambience of the Lebanese village decor really elevates the experience. A lot of good memories here!
Assaha has, I think, a reputation it fails to deliver on. The entrance to the restaurant is impressive with some nice outdoor seating and a small swimming pool. The menus we had were pretty much falling apart and ordering in English wasn’t easy; both because most staff didn’t speak English and the menu translations were often pretty cryptic - and this was combined with pretty average service. Also a number of items unavailable. The prices are very high - definitely the highest priced restaurant we visited in Khartoum. Portions were fine by general standards which means small by Sudanese standards. Our food was good, but not fantastic - and we had high hopes. There are lots of less fancy looking places in town with much better food and at far lower prices. Probably only worth going if you’re an especially nervous traveller or if you want to have a hookah. Yes there was live music, however due to the volume it didn’t actually enhance the ambiance. And desert was cheesecake or chocolate cake / with no actual Lebanese options unfortunately. Didn’t love it I’m afraid.
