Best fine dining experience Chef personally visited our table to assist with available menu choices and we were not disappointed! Room service as well from the restaurant and quality of food was excellent
This restaurant was the place were I used to eat breakfast during my last stay in Sandton. I ate there one day for dinner. They do not have many gluten-free options in the menu but it is not a problem. Compared to other restaurants in the area, the trickiest thing is that their waiters do not know anything about gluten-free. This made me feel a bit insecure when ordering. Actually, when I took dinner, I spoke with the cook because the waiter didn't understand me. For breakfast, I used to order a "design omelette" with ham and cheese. Despite I clearly indicated that I wanted it with only these two ingredients, some days they had to repeat it twice because they were preparing it with pepper or onion.
This is the first time that we went out for Christmas Lunch and we had a number of buffet options but chose the Maximilien for variety and price (about R700 for adults and under 12s about R300 - contact the restaurant for latest prices and options. Drinks are separate). We arrived early and there is ample secure parking at the hotel or park at either Sandton City or the Nelson Mandela Square and walk. The venue has amazing views of Sandton. It would be amazing if some of the surrounding buildings decorated during Christmas then the views would rival London or New York. The service was excellent from start to finish and Pablo our waiter made sure that we were well taken care of. The younger kids got Christmas glasses, hats and a small present. The menu included: starters, rice, carrots, pasta, lamb, turkey, steak and fish pie. Desert included Swiss roll, profiteroles, Blackforest, snowball, mince pies. The dishes were all excellent and the only problem was the flies on the desserts but they soon resolved this with a few lamps. As we were leaving we looked at their al le carte menu and based on the options and prices we will definitely be visiting again.
The atmosphere was very nice with an downstairs and upstairs dining. I cho. sse to eat upstairs where there is also a outdoor sitting area. I ordered the whole red snapper which was delicious! The wine selection was also nice with a variety of SA wines. There was also a very nice piano player with nice soothing tunes.
