Really enjoyed the food here. Great classic Malay cuisine, reasonably priced and comfortable dine-in space. I’m surprised I did not know this place having grown up all my life here in Singapore. Thanks to my friend who recommended this place to me for lunch today.
For a good fix of malay food - you must come here! The prices are reasonable, portions are massive but best of all food taste great! They have great deals for sets and also a pretty good selection of dishes to choose from Getting a spot to sit might be a bit challenging since its rush hour practically every hour here, but its not impossible 😹
Its been awhile since I last patronize the outlet at Jalan Pisang. Was quite disappointed with the food quality. Ordered Asam Pedas Stingray, the fish was quite hard like chunky meat instead of soft. The Sayur Lodeh was quite dilute. This was not what I was looking forward for when I plan this trip. The cashier was showing unfriendly attitude. The only heart warming smiles was from the food order taker, the queue usher and this service crew who help to carry my order to my table. That is what I call service excellence. Not my FIRST CHOICE eatery anymore. # can't be bothered to take photos of the food with such standard.
We came in the midst of Covid19 social distancing. The restaurent had worked out an efficient way of keeping the crowds out of the ordering area. So once we were allowed entry to order our dishes, we had the space to check out what we wanted for that meal. Be sure to leave sufficient space for their desserts. We ordered many different dishes, and they were all good mostly. The Tohu Telur, fried tripe, black squid ink cuttle fish and young nangka curry were yummy. The sayur lodeh could be improved. The Lemak Siput was way too chilli spicy for me. I particularly enjoyed their green bean coconut warm dessert.
