Great food that looks and tastes good for an affordable price. The main dishes were succulent, a combination of visual and flavourful pleasures. The meat was perfectly cooked. Deserts were OK but nothing fancy. Service was fast and agreable. Overal I would recommend this place for a nice dinner for a couple, a group of friends or even for business.
Every time I visit Saint Petersburg I stop by for a dinner here. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate, perfect for a date or a dinner with an old friend. The menu always has a wide and at the same time unique selection of dishes for every taste. My old favorites are beef cheeks and duck breast. This time we tried the deer and beef tongue with baked potatoes. It was delicious! Attentive and super polite staff gave wine recommendations and we were pleased with our choices of red dry. For dessert we tried brioche with cheese and berry mousse - unusual paring of ingredients for a dessert but so worthy to taste!
This is the second time I visit the Schengen Restaurant. First time about 3 years ago it was great. This time: Service was nice attentiv but not more. Never ask if you need something more. For the food you don't need to come again. Even with my age where you don't feel so hungry anymore, I left hungry! Appeticer Aubergine backed was hot, but sauce to blend. Bread served with it full portion 4 slicecs, cold and creamy butter served which tested like vegetable oil. Filet Steak strange how the blood was running out of a medium steak, 2 teaspoons of Carrot purée wit 2 small sticks of raw carrots and a small piece of raw green onion. Lamb neck Stew was tender and sauce was tasty. Potatoes served with it nice and tasty. 4 rancid Patato Chips ruins the nice flavour. Not recommended.
Ok. I first visited this restaurant in 2014 (I thought it was another restaurant in the same premises but waiter said it was actually Shengen back then). The experience back then was amazing. Excellent food. Green curry, chilli con carne - I think I tried those first time in here and was truly amazed. I don't often visit the city and I attempted to find this restaurant again later but forgot where it was. Now suddenly stumbled upon it and we went again. Completely different menu but again overwhelming. I don't think the chef or any of the staff are same as in 2014 but keeping constanly the highest level of quality says a lot about the devotion of the owners. Thank you and hope to come again sooner next time. Regarding recommendations - the hummus is perfect, the deer tartar is super cool.
