Located on Trubnaya Square, Ikura (named after the Japanse word for salmon caviar) serves up Nikkei - Peruvian ingredients shaped by Japanese techniques with a strong focus on sushi, sake, lime and aji. The menu offers a wide selection of small dishes made for sharing. Expect small serving sizes. The interior is moody and energetic with a constant flow of people and dishes. One of the highlights is the panoramic view of the city. The black cod (1800 ₽) was outstanding and highly recommended. The soy glaze was not too sweet, the outer skin of the cod had a slight crunch while the inside was moist. The Ikura (720₽) from the dessert menu is something different with three layers - cream, cake and rasberry tasting pellets ressembling caviar - served in a small wooden box. The service was excellent - engaging, knowledgeable and friendly staff happy to make recommendations on the menu. The only recommendation to the chef and bartender is the addition of chica morada, a traditional Peruvian non alchoolic drink based out of purpule corn that is tasty and refreshing. Priced on the high end, Ikura is a great spot to celebrate a special ocassion with friends, family or loved ones.
Big menu based on Japanese cuisine: sushi, sashimi, various fish dishes and interesting meat options. Main dishes are rather good. Sushi are ok: some of them are good like the one with scallops&fois gras, others are average (even sushi with salmon). I also don’t recommend you to spend money on tuna sushi - they are not tasty (or not fresh?), so, totally don’t worth it. Even tuna belly for 1000rur/piece isn’t good and tender as it should be. Good offer: there is 20% discount on weekdays in 12-18pm. Very welcoming hostess - they show you your table telling you a story of this place. Waiters are nice - they can give you a piece of advice about the menu and drinks, but without any smiles, I think it’s not necessary to be so serious :) unfortunately, wardrobe guy gave my coat back very unpleasantly, that colored the end of the evening in a sad emotions. Bad internet signal, but free wi-fi with fast connection for guests is available.
Family favorite suburban hidden gem. Delicious, fresh modern Japanese cuisine, offering a very extensive menu, using fresh flavorful ingredients. The service is lovely and quick, easy parking nearby. The interior is simple but comfortable, it’s a great casual place, probably not for a special occasion, but nice and quiet for a catch up. We will keep on coming back.
HI. A GROUP of 10 guests visited Ikura and 16th Feb and the food was delicious. As my friend is a regular guest we were charged $2.50 per head for corkage and were promised that when we come back it would be the same charge of $2.50 per head. We have just had dinner (9 of Us) and were charged $5 per head for corkage. Food was very good but disppointed that we were charged when we were promised $2.50.
