Japanese food done right. This is probably one of those Japanese restaurants that taste the same as Japan. I can tell from the smell to the set up and all. Food is good! The sukiyaki is really tasty one of my favorite definitely.
Best and freshest sushi I’ve had in Metro Manila. Highly recommend the chirashi don and sushi boat. Relaxing atmosphere, perfect for family gatherings. Friendly and attentive staff as well! Definitely coming again soon. ❤️
When you’re too early for your annual meet for the LTB-P organization… and the rockstar Japanese Chef is happy you are there… you get some edible gold flecks on your favorite fresh Uni Sashimi flown in from Japan just the night before! Of course, I can’t miss my favorite Chawanmushi.. I had 2! And a tall glass of Guinomis. Always makes my tummy dance the happy dance! The service team of Tsukiji is composed mostly of folks who have been with them for many years which is a testament to how well Chef J Gamboa’s management is. In the case of Tsukiji, the more tenured team means more experience and familiarity with the menu in case their diners have questions with their menu choices. Tsukiji, my all-time favorite Japanese restaurant, gets their Japanese shipment 5x weekly!
Horrible place to dine! The “Japanese” rice in the Tsukiji Don and Oyakodon were plain soggy, on top of the eel being too sweet and the chicken being too salty. The tempura was ordinary and nothing great compared to less expensive restaurants. The king crab was undeserving of being categorized beyond average-sized. The sushi boat was flat and unimpressive and lacked that savoriness that authentic Japanese rolls are famous for. The Tsukiji Don was simply inedible for me and I had to have it sent back after eating only 1/4 of the bowl. The manager offered to replace it but not before informing/lecturing me that they had been using the same rice and recipe for years blah blah blah, and I said that it was entirely different from the last time I ordered the same item, and that I knew what authentic Japanese dishes should taste like, having lived in Japan for 3 years. I refused her offer of a replacement but she was gracious enough to cancel it out of our check. I will not be returning to this restaurant, which I can only say to be in an apparent state of decline after it received initial rave reviews. I would highly recommend checking out the legit AND WAY CHEAPER restaurants in Japan Town instead, where we were able to taste a delectable sushi boat at half the price!
