Great elevated street food of Peruvian anticuchos! I love the mixtos, patatas, choclos and aji the most. Recommended if you want sone variation of Peruvian dining experience that’s different from the Miraflores area.
Awesome and well reviewed Doña Pochitas Anticucheria, not sure how much action the food stall still gets but at our visit it was (small) restaurant service only. Choose your food from the overhead blackboard, pay and get your ticket, sit down and wait for your perfectly grilled beef hearts. Surprisingly tender, well seasoned and very enjoyable. Lovely little place to eat along local people.
For the best Peruvian barbecue food this casual place will be your answer. It was attended by Anthony Bourdain years ago and other foodie reviewers. Basically skewered meat in good portion sizes. Very casual and no English. Use your Translation apps for the menu and for speaking. They do take cash. A neighbourhood where locals hang out. We loved our three dishes inclusive of their Picarones (donuts). Plus, you can get a beer out of their fridge. The menu is varied and long.
Simple. Delicious. Antichucos is a Peruvian staple. It’s beef heart, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, basic, plentiful, cheap and delicious. And available all over the city. For those unfamiliar with beef heart it has no organ-like flavor. It’s beefy and has a great firm snappy texture. We stopped many times at many places to grab them as a quick snack. Consistently one of our favorite things we ate on our 5 day self guided culinary tour around Lima.
