What can I say, it's a Michelin-starred restaurant (currently one-star)! The star of the show was the goat (according to Pangea), but for us the stars of the show were the truffle risotto and the tuna tartar! The goat wasn't bad but the risotto and the tuna tartar were excellent! My son licked the plate of the risotto (I had to stop him when I saw this of course!). The desserts were very delicious, especially the Nutella triple-chocolate ice cream. The atmosphere was cozy, dark and welcoming. The service was definitely five-star delivering dishes right on cue without the need to ask for anything. I think Pangea is definitely worth the visit if you have a chance to go while in Monterrey. The experience is one you will not forget!
Exquisite meal, well presented and reasonably priced considering the quality and portions. Service was attentive and professional, possibly erring on the side of robotic. I would have appreciated some more personality and personal recommendations, but that's nitpicking. Highlights included short rib ravioli (listed as part of the menu del día but was available a la carte per request) and ribeye corte. Even the breads to start were divine. We also appreciated that the sommelier came out to advise us on the wine list, but to be honest her recommendations were vague. Nonetheless, we were thrilled with the wines we ordered. My only real qualm with the place was the noisy bar nextdoor in the plaza. It caused substantial noise pollution. Granted, we visited on a Friday night. However those looking for a serene environment would be advised to dine inside. This was truly a highlight on our visit to Monterrey and I would dine here again in a heartbeat.
Pangea deserves its place among the top 50 restaurants in Latin America. Every detail is carefully attended to, from the elegant glassware to the modern and comfortable decor. The terrace provides a lovely setting for an unforgettable dining experience. I started with the hamachi tataki with miso sauce and avocado cremoso, a dish prepared by the culinary gods themselves. The sauce perfectly complemented the delicate creaminess of the fish. For my main course, I had Pangea's signature cabrito norteño. They have truly elevated this classic Monterrey dish. The goat is baked for hours until fork tender, then deboned and paired with a rich black beer and goat broth reduction, refried beans, guacamole and fresh corn tortillas. I paired this with an unexpectedly high quality Languedoc Pinot Noir, available by the glass. The brule cheesecake was the perfect ending to my version of heaven. It is served cold with a grapefruit sorbet; the bitterness clears the palate so you may continue on a stellar gastronomic journey. I paired it with a lush Tawny port from Duoro. The service is attentive and friendly, though it could be a touch more refined to match the stellar food. I can't wait to bring my wife.
This place was great. Really good service, always attentive. The food as a whole was really good, but I felt like it was too elaborate as well. I think one or two elaborate plates would’ve been enough but it was everything. The tomato salad and pâté are a must. One very fresh and the other very smooth. The tomato pasta was delicious, definitely one of their best dishes. The mains were all good. Specially the duck leg with gnocchi, which I’m not usually a fan of but I was pleasantly surprised. The desserts were both good and nicely portioned.
