Dewakan offers not only exceptional cuisine but also an unforgettable dining experience. The dishes are crafted with top-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, showcasing the creativity and passion behind each plate. The highlight, however, is the breathtaking ambiance. The seating arrangement is thoughtfully designed to provide diners with stunning views—from watching the sun gracefully set to marveling at the sparkling city lights and the iconic Twin Towers at night. The service is outstanding, with staff who are both attentive and genuinely warm, making you feel truly cared for throughout the evening. Dewakan is not just a meal; it’s an experience that beautifully combines flavors, scenery, and impeccable hospitality. Highly recommended for a memorable night out!
Located on top of a skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, Dewakan isn't just Malaysia's first two-Michelin-starred restaurant – it's a love letter to Malaysian ingredients, most I’ve never even heard of. The experience kicks off with a behind-the-scenes tour that feels less like a formal presentation and more like being welcomed into a friend's (incredibly sophisticated) kitchen. The highlight? Their in-house aging station, where they're crafting custom vinegars that would make any fermentation enthusiast giddy. It's this attention to detail that sets the tone for what's about to come. The menu is a masterclass in reimagining local Malaysian ingredients. The venison tartare hits that sweet spot between familiar and innovative, while the breadfruit crisp makes you wonder why this ingredient isn't more celebrated globally. But it's the clam dumpling and crab curry that really steal the show – these dishes manage to feel both comfortingly familiar and excitingly new at the same time. Even the garnishes aren't just for show; local Asian leaves and crab shells are thoughtfully incorporated to enhance both the visual appeal and the overall experience. What really stands out is how the staff manages to be impeccably professional while keeping things refreshingly down-to-earth. There's none of that stuffy fine-dining atmosphere that can make you feel like you need to whisper. Instead, you get warm, attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The farewell gift of house-made local chocolate, accompanied by a personally signed card from the team, was a touching finale that showed just how much thought goes into every aspect of the dining experience. It's these small touches that transform a meal into a memory. If you're looking for a dining experience that pushes boundaries while staying true to its Malaysian roots, Dewakan is it. Yes, it's a splurge, but for a two-Michelin-star restaurant that delivers not just extraordinary food but an unforgettable experience, it's worth every penny. This isn't just fine dining – it's Malaysian cuisine elevated to an art form, served with heart and soul.
From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Had a tour of the preparation area. Best table one can get overlooking Petronas Towers. Food was prepared to order. Very fresh and locally produced ingredients. Waiting staff was extremely knowledgeable and trained to look after all our needs. Would highly recommend a visit but remember one has to book well in advance.
