I have been wanting to visit this place for a long time it has been recommended to me quite a number of times by local friends. Finally got to pay a visit on a weekend evening. We got here quite early around 8pm and this place was still rather quiet. It was quite empty and we could just choose where we wanted to sit. Guessed we were quite early as it is the time where most people will still be in the midst of dinner. We sat down and quickly ordered some drinks and desserts. Got the staff to recommend and so just picked on the 2 most popular items. The desserts took a while for the preparation, while the drinks came first. One of the drinks we ordered was the prebiotic drink sunflower microgreens, tasted not bad, not scary at all. Interesting drink to try. When the desserts were served, we started to realize that people were coming in and soon the place was just full, and from being peaceful it suddenly became very noisy. So we had the strawberry tart and balsamic vinegar ice cream and the chocolate glazed éclair with salted caramel ice cream. Both were good and the portion was quite big for at least 2 to share for each dessert. Glad we had a fruity and a chocolate dessert that complemented to end the day. Pretty good desserts with good combination of flavours, given a choice I loved the chocolate éclair more, while my friend liked the strawberry tart more. Reasonable prices and worth the visit. We were quite put off by the loud chatters we just wanted to finish and leave the place quickly. There's a sign which says no loud noises but nobody bothered and the staff also didn't try to enforce the rules.
You know the place is good when you arrive 5 minutes after its opening hours and there were already a few tables occupied. Been a fan of Foo Foo since it opened. I would find any excuse to introduce Foo Foo to my family and friends. Even if they already know about the place, it's a perfect excuse to meet up here after lunch or dinner. You know why? Because the desserts here never disappoint! My top 3 favourites from Foo Foo: 1) Black Forest Trifle What is it? Sour morello cherry compote, chocolate roulade, dark chocolate mousse, chocolate feuilletine crunch and mascapone sabayon. Why I love it? It's a different take on the classic black forest cake without the heaviness of the cream and icing hence it’s a trifle. Smooth, velvety and not so sweet. 2) Pumpkin Tres Leches What is it? Yellow pumpkin cake, three-milk sauce, mascarpone cream, almond slivers, pumpkin seeds, pomegranate. Why I love it? It's a cake, half soaked in milk! With almonds, pumpkin seeds and pomegranate, it's a different bite of milky and crunchy every time. I usually have this with black coffee. 3) Strawberry Tart with Balsamic Vinegar Ice Cream What is it? Short crust pastry, creme patissiere, red berries compote, fresh strawberry slices, dehydrated strawberries. Why I love it? A perfect blend of fruity (strawberries), sweet (pastry and cream) and sour (vinegar ice cream). A classic favourite which has stayed in the menu since it opened. Honourable Mentions: Passion Berries Pavlova, Apple Strudel with Creme Anglaise, White Chocolate Pana Cotta with Stewed Pear & Peanut Praline. Why I also love them? Classic desserts that always hit the spot. They also have homemade ice cream that are not usually found anywhere else. Love their balsamic vinegar, black pepper mango, cherry swirl and chrysanthemum ice creams. Recommendations: 1. Bring your family and friends so you will have an excuse to have more than one dessert. 2. Call ahead to book your table. 3. Chat with the owners. They are super friendly.
Loved the cappuccino and profiteroles. Great service and really nice ambience. Will definitely return1
Does anyone miss the little cafe tucked away in a glasshouse on the misty hilltop of Fraser Hill? Fret not! Deep within the heart of TTDI, lies a cafe on the second story of a shop-lot resembling a glasshouse filled with lush greenery which keeps shy founders Jack and Foo busy dishing out mouth watering desserts with a touch of sophistication. Diners are greeted by an homely instagrammable corner complete with rustic furniture, inviting sofas and even a bookcase which also acts as a waiting area. Enter the cafe with an adventurous heart and open mind with the promise of leaving with a full and satisfied tummy. One of their signatures is the apple strudel with black pepper mango ice cream (RM29) which arrived masked as a crusty dumpling but bursting with nicely spiced apple strudel within. It was accompanied by a mango ice cream which gave with a peppery twist. Another signature is their strawberry tart with balsamic vinegar ice cream. The strawberries were fresh and extremely crunchy with a layer of light cream which was held snug with a crusty tart. Remember to make a reservation or to go during off peak hours as it can get pretty packed. Not only were the desserts pretty, they were also unorthodox and undoubtedly delicious The link to our published article on Eater with more photos and videos can be found on Instagram and YouTube (@monk3yseendo )
