Our dinner at Beta was nothing short of amazing, from the food to the impeccable service. Every course was outstanding, with unique flavours incorporating local Malaysian ingredients. Fine dining in Malaysia often lack well-balanced seasoning in their food, with priority for presentation over taste, but Beta KL nailed it. It was a special occasion and the team kindly printed a family photo for the occasion. A dessert on the house was also provided. Impressive! Highly, highly recommend.

The food was so good! Before dine in main dining area, we have been waiting at the lounge area to have our snacks and beverages. Abalone rice & beef was superb. Overall wonderful fine dining experience.

I visited Beta KL in May as I was interested in their ‘Tour of Malaysia’ menu which seems quite interesting. I booked a tablet ahead of time which was pretty straightforward. The restaurant was a short walk from the hotel where I was staying. The entrance wasn’t the easiest to spot as it is located on the ground floor past the lift of what looks like an office building. After entering a small entrance is an eye-catching central bar with tiered seating with small tables on each level. It reminds me of a theatre and a performance is going to take place. My drink order was taken and after a short time, I was led behind the bar section to the dining room. There is also an open kitchen on show, all the chefs seem to be concentrating at their station. The food presentation certainly seems to match the restaurant in being eye-catching and with precision. I found the interpretation of the food from different areas of Malaysia to be very innovative. A trolley came around just before the meat dish when one of the waiters made a sorbet palate cleanser next to the table. The food overall is very good, the only slight misgiving I had was I had a sorbet palate cleanser and I was served a sorbet as one of the desserts. Whilst I appreciate the dessert sorbet is clearly not the same as the cleanser but being served something similar twice isn’t what I would have expected. The waiting staff is very polite and helpful. I felt whilst they are on hand with my needs they are a little distant for my liking. Of course, it is each to their own, I like some interactions with the staff and what they recommend etc. Given it rained earlier just before I left the hotel, I took an umbrella with me which the reception staff took it into the cloakroom. I was hoping in this type of establishment there is a bit more organisation into it. Firstly, when I went to the cloakroom the staff didn’t realise I left something there when I explained I left an umbrella there they literally pulled out every single umbrella there was in the closet. Overall, the food was very good, I like the interesting menu and innovative way of interpreting Malaysian food. Service was polite, and overall efficient but could do with more interactions and warmth. Finally, better organisation of the cloakroom.

This restaurant came with a lot of fanfare and recommendations. I came here with high expectations and Beta completely met my expectations. The restaurant wants to ensure that only serious diners book the place as there is a 120RM per diner reservation fee. Let’s begin with the service. The service was top notch. Every stage of the dining experience was served with great care and pride. We were first ushered to sit in a casual area where we tasted the amuse bouche. The 3 appetisers showcase the creativity of the chef. Each of the morsels were creative and delicious. The menu showcased each region of Malaysia and used local ingredients from each region. To describe each dish will spoil the fun. Suffice to say that it was incredibly creative and delicious. Sometimes in life it is okay to indulge in a luxurious treat. This would be a good place to do it.
