Located in the vibrant city of Osaka, Yakko is a cozy kushikatsu restaurant that promises a delightful culinary experience. With only about 10 seats, the intimate setting fosters a friendly atmosphere where diners can engage with the owner and enjoy the hustle and bustle of local life. Customers rave about the freshly fried offerings, especially the chicken and shrimp, which are highlighted for their light batter and incredible taste. While the menu is primarily in Japanese, adventurous eaters can discover hidden gems by striking up conversations with the owner. However, some visitors have noted challenges with service, particularly for non-Japanese speakers. Yakko stands out for its authentic Japanese cuisine and a unique, family-owned charm that embodies the essence of local dining.

Everything I ordered was delicious! The chicken was my favorite. Definitely worth the wait and I highly recommend going here!
With only around 10 seats, it is a small kushikatsu restaurant owned by one family. The service is nice and friendly to locals (so get prepared if you are tourist which do not speak any Japanese). Customers and owner got friendly chats when cooking. All menu items are written in Japanese and some hidden menu which you can order to owner if you see the fridge has it (which i ordered scallops by listening to another order from a Japanese sit near the fridge) The food is quite nice (and Hot!) as all are freshly fried with thin layer of the batter. It was not tough and overcooked. Chicken (tori) and shrimp (ebi) should be the must try items while their vegetables such as eggplant and asparagus is also excellent as well
I went to this restaurant after reading some good reviews on Japanese food rating sites such as tabelong and gurunavi. The experience I had here however was very disappointing. First of all, the main chef (I suppose) was being very rude to us when we asked him to give us water instead of an alcoholic drink. The food was honestly average compared to other stores and the thing that surprised us the most was that the chef was smoking a cigarette the whole time he was cooking. I don't know if he was drunk but he even dropped some ashes on our food! Not acceptable and very disappointed. Will definitely not recommend this place. P.S the restaurant next doors called daruma was very nice (though you might have to line up a little bit, but definitely worth the wait).
