The atmosphere is lively, especially with the unique setup that allows patrons to watch the skilled chefs prepare the delicious octopus balls right before their eyes. Hanadako is a popular takoyaki shop located in the Osaka New Umeda Shokudo-gai, conveniently situated next to the train station. The shop constantly attracts crowds of people eager to enjoy their delicious takoyaki. You have the option to dine in or take out, with takeout typically being faster. For dine-in, you’ll have to wait until seats are available. The seating is limited to a small standing counter that accommodates 8-9 people. After placing your order, you can enjoy your takoyaki while watching the chef skillfully prepare them, creating a lively atmosphere. We ordered 10 takoyaki for just 1050 yen, which is very affordable. The takoyaki comes topped with a generous amount of green onions and mayonnaise, forming a literal “mountain” of toppings. The takoyaki themselves are delicious — crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, with tender, chewy octopus pieces. You can also add chili powder (which isn’t too spicy) for an extra kick, transforming the flavor in a delightful way. Overall, this is a highly recommended spot, and it’s clear why it’s so popular!
People queue for their Takoyaki… Menu are all in Japanese, no English version. Is good just that is not the taste I’ve been looking for! They have a so call ‘bar table’ for customers to stand eating while enjoying watching them cooking 😅…
This place had Best Takoyaki I’ve ever had. Line was wrapped outside of alley and around corner, so be prepared to wait. Usually if there’s a queue in Japan at a food place—especially if you spot locals in said line—the food is going to be very good. The place was sort of hard to find too, but Maps apps aren’t always the best and it being connected to a giant food arcade certainly didn’t help. They do their best to keep the line moving quickly and consistently. The guy at the register speaks amazing English and was super nice too for tourists. Be aware that it’s standing bar only, so maybe not the best for the disabled.
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Fresh octopus, awesome sauce and mayo. The mayo tasted different from other stalls I’ve eaten. Fragrance of the crispy layer is subtle. It’s convenient for us to get a quick bite before heading to our next destination. This is hands down the best Takoyaki I’ve eaten!
