Amdavadi in Chennai, India, offers a cozy escape for those craving authentic Gujarati cuisine. Located beside Pazhamudhircholai, this restaurant provides a comfortable ambiance that encourages leisurely meals. Patrons frequently rave about the unlimited Gujarati thali, which offers a delightful variety of dishes at a reasonable price. While some diners appreciate the mild flavors and generous portions, others have noted inconsistencies in food quality and service speed. The restaurant has managed to carve out a niche for itself among locals and tourists alike, especially families looking to explore traditional vegetarian fare. It's a place where the simplicity of decor is complemented by beautiful photographs of the Gujarati community, making it a charming spot to enjoy a meal.

A nice comfortable restaurant serving Gujarati food in Chennai. There are not many options available, but the food tasted good. The place is located a bit internally, beside pazhamudhircholai. The service was good and the ambience was nice. The thali is reasonably priced and has almost the entire menu in it. More or less, you will end up paying the same as thali. So, go for it. When we visited, we were the only ones in the restaurant! There is place to park about 3 cars inside.
Went for a weekday lunch and ordered unlimited Gujarati Thali. The food items were tasty and the quantity was adequate. We took nearly an hour to slowly taste the delicacies. Good food, good service and a good environment.
Based on the food i tasted, the restaurant appears to fall short in delivering an authentic Gujarati dining experience. The combination of cold food, limited options, and slow service significantly detracts from the overall experience. The positive aspects of ambiance and welcome drink are overshadowed by the negative factors. Recommendations for the Restaurant: * Improve Food Quality: Ensure food is served hot and fresh, especially for dishes like rotis and thepla. * Enhance Service: Train staff to be more attentive and efficient, especially when handling customer requests. * Focus on Authenticity: Emphasize the restaurant's Gujarati roots and strive to provide an authentic dining experience. By addressing these issues, the restaurant can significantly improve its reputation and attract more customers seeking a genuine Gujarati culinary experience. Key Complaints: * Location: Difficulty finding the restaurant, especially for first-time visitors. * Menu: Limited options, primarily focusing on thali. * Food Quality: Cold food, lack of variety, and disappointment compared to expectations. * Service: Slow service, especially for additional requests. * Authenticity: Questionable authenticity of the Gujarati cuisine. Positive Aspects: * Ambiance: Well-lit and pleasant atmosphere. * Welcome Drink and Chaas: Enjoyable, although the chaas was not fresh.
Very rude behaviour of staff combined with a very long delay (almost 50 minutes) in serving food. Starters served after main course. Even quality and taste has gone down This restaurant used to be good. Now I would strongly advice people not to go there
