Comfort food at reasonable prices. Great selection of wines. Service super friendly and happy to work around time constraints. We had an apéritif and they made sure not to bring out our meals until we’d finished them.
My husband and I came here for dinner during our recent 10-day stay in Paris. Despite the rain and our apartment hotel being in 1er, it was well worth the walk to the restaurant. Most of the patrons were local residents at the time we were there and it felt like the neighbourhood restaurant we were looking for. Although our French was limited, the waitstaff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our waiter gave us the English menu which is the same as the local menu. We love the homey and traditional bistrot menu. I order the eggs mayonnaise and pot-au-feu. For my main dish, I had looked up the menu ahead of time was going to order coq au vin, ribeye steak or steak tartare. However, I made a last minute decision to go with the pot-au-feu which I thought would be more fitting for a rainy night. I’m glad I made the switch. The beef was so tender and full of flavour. The carrot, potato and rutabaga soaked up every essence of the soup. I did not leave a drop of soup by the time I finished. The mayonnaise served with the eggs was simply divine.
We arrived at 8 PM on a Monday -- and were glad to find the atmosphere was reasonably calm. We had made the reservation at noon the prior Saturday and the noise and activity level at that time were really quite high. We were seated promptly and handed menus in English -- which we really don't appreciate. We've found that the well-meaning translations in English menus are usually inadequate -- if not misleading. We like attentive service but the waitstaff appeared at the table numerous times asking if we were ready. This became irritating. Later on, they disappeared and seemed to forget items we requested (e.g., mustard for the pâté). We ordered: foie gras pâté en croûte quenelles doubles de brochet sauce natua pot au feu, os à moëlle The dishes were tasty and the portions were generous. A single quenelle would have been plenty. The wine list is extensive with several choices at reasonable prices. For some reason, the waitstaff tried to steer us toward several high end selections -- which was also irritating. We had: pichet blanc from Domaine des Ardoisières (45 cl) Anthony Thevenet Morgon 2022 The "house white" was good but the Morgon was off -- very pruney. We should have sent it back but didn't want to make a fuss. Overall, we found the dining experience rather disappointing -- and not consistent with the rave reviews on T/A.
Classic French bistro food done brilliantly. Everything we had was so tasty & well cooked. Despite being stuffed we had to have the chocolate mousse having seen it pass by going to other tables. It was worth it! Staff were delightfully friendly & professional. We enjoyed our meal exceptionally
