The food was delicious, we got some items off the menu as well that did not disappoint. Good wine selection and the atmosphere is pretty chic but cozy.
So so delicious. Everytime I come through Bogota I make sure I reserve one evening at Bar Universal. A lovely Spanish wine, slow cooked lamb neck, and the wonderful ceviche to start. 😘
Solid service, lovely decor, delicious dishes make this establishment a great choice if you seek a French influenced experience. The appetizers were tasty with creative interpretations. The main plates were solidly European in flavor and technique. The desserts encapsulated the dining experience.
It was kind of disappointing. Maybe our expectations were too high. The fact that the place was half empty on a Saturday night should have been a sign. Cocktails were good. My crudo starter was really good and very tasteful. The cazuela was more a red sauce instead of what we know as cazuela. My main was good. My husbands main was a badly prepared ribeye. Cooked overdone and the waitress hadn’t asked how he wanted it. Too much Parmesan on the side fries and lettuce. The sides were also too big in proportion. The ribeye was suggested to us as the beef with fries wasn’t available but the waitress didn’t mention it was 3 times the price of the beef. Our bad we didn’t ask either. But you don’t expect 3x more. Desert was a simple flan. Just like how you make it yourself at home. Waitress was friendly. Spoke barely English but did her best. All and all: in this price range there are much better restaurants to find in Chapinero for dining. For lunch it’s fine.
