We stopped off from our journey on Route 66 to have a bite to eat at the famous Grand Canyon Caverns. The young man who served us was delightfully attentive and professional in his service. The 'Grand Canyon' burger I chose was nothing short of a monster of a burger - I had to ask for a take-away burger box to eat the remaining half later. My wife purchased a fruit and nut salad and once again it was enormous, full of fresh produce and she had to pack half away to eat later. But it wasn't just the size of the food, it was fresh and tasty. Highly recommended for a stop and a bite with a photo shoot opportunity with a big green smiling dinosaur at the front door. Fun and great service - this is Route 66 at its best!
In its day, it was probably 'the bomb' but now, it's a little tired. An old stopping point during the Route 66 days, it's seen better times. The Cavern was closed because the elevator didn't work and hadn't for awhile. Burgers were about the only thing they had that looked worth eating and they were good. The Motel restaurant was closed...similar story...so this was the only place to go before and after Havasupai.
