This cafe is the real deal , easy to find in the big City of Qingdao. Danny and his partner have an authentic all day breakfast menu and as a special treat ask him for a slice of his cheese cake...one of the best slices you will find in Qingdao. Danny is a pleasant easy to talk to proprietor of the Kiwi cafe...and for any Europeans and New Zealanders who seek it out, it is a real safe haven with really good genuine food ..definitely with a Kiwi flavour. The easiest way to get there...take the 703 airport shuttle bus from outside the Qingdao airport and stay on the bus until it reaches its terminus outside the Grand Regency Hotel. From there its a short 3 min walk ...hint...have ExpressVPN on your smart phone..and look at Google Maps... Very highly recommended.
What to get: Eggs Bene! Kiwi is the place memories are made. This guy knows his stuff. He trained with restaurants in New Zealand to get these dishes just right. It's a small space with a small kitchen, so go here if you want a relaxed mood - not if you want a fast meal.
I wish we lived closer! To say our breath was taken away by this experience is an understatement. We were a party of 6 and the service from the moment we arrived until the moment we waved good bye was nothing but uniquely heartwarming! We discovered a new dish - you may think you know what it is ...but I bet you've never tasted it this way! BANANA BREAD KIWI CAFE STYLE! The food was fresh, delicious and made from scratch. The owner was onsite supporting their team throughout the morning. You could tell it was a local gathering spot! The Kiwi cafe was recommended by a local and we are so glad we took their advise. We will return. We are still drooling over your creations. Thanks for adding to our adventure on the south shore.
It was the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. We were a party of five for brunch. The couple at the next table were seated after us but received their order, ate it and paid and left before there was any sign of our food. Atmosphere, ambience, quality of food great. The server was friendly but the overall experience was extremely negative due to the 45 minute wait for food. If you can't serve all the tables, you have too many tables! We won't be back.
