The taste is good. But the environment is just so so
It was my second time to go to Zhiweiguan Weizhuang in Hangzhou. This time I took my family with me. Thanks to the arrangement of a local friend, I found out that there is a hidden secret behind the Weizhuang. The so-called high-end private rooms with low-cost meals of 10,000 yuan are actually It was held in such a beautiful villa on the lake. The family was busy taking pictures and almost missed the authentic Hangzhou cuisine. In fact, it is a happy thing to be with the family again, but if you have the chance, your pocket is deep enough and you can taste the food. Weizhuang's private room, Qiuhuju, is a feast for the eyes and taste.
We had larger dinner in a private room and tried a large selection of meat, fish, chicken and vegetables. Service was good. We tried a couple of Hang Zhou specialities as Dong Po pork. Just outside is the West Lake with walking paths along the shore
Zhiweiguan (知味观)well known for its Hangzhou cuisine, has its main restaurant situated close to the West Lake. A very big restaurant yet the waiters seemed to be tired and very much uninvolved. Instead of having dialogue with customers they all looked indifferent. When I looked around I found that nearly all the waiters were young males, no older than 25. When customers appeared to be at a loss and indecisive in making choices, they failed to try to strike a conversation recommending dishes to them. By the way no hand towels of any kind were provided. A pack of disposable paper towels will be available for 2 RMB. We ordered a dish of sweet and sour fried fish with pine nuts, a duck hot pot and stirred fried okras. The fish seemed to have been fried before hand and refried on order. Instead of being tender, the flesh tasted a bit hard. The duck was too salty and served mostly with bones. The okra was ok though a bit cold. The food cannot be described as bad, but just too mediocre compared to the fame the restaurant has gained. Judging from the quality of service and the food, it is a restaurant you can pass.
