We didn’t have the best of experiences here. We walked past the previous day and loved the look of the restaurant, so we booked in for the following evening. It all started really well with both of us having excellent starters. I had entrecôte steak for main and my partner had meatballs. You know that first cut into a steak is when you find how good (or bad) it is don’t you? First mouthful. Chew chew chew chew chew chew chew. Nope, took the remains out my mouth and tried again. Same again. 3 attempts later I gave up. My partners meatballs were ok-ish but not fantastic. The host intervened and my steak went back, only to re-emerge after the host and the kitchen staff had tested part of it and found it to be fine. I tried again, and still the same. We were told that it was from Switzerland and was fantastic. It definitely wasn’t. We asked for the bill and were told that 1/2 of the steak cost was removed. Although grateful, I did explain that I was unable to eat any of it. Begrudgingly, the whole cost was removed from the bill. I appreciate things go wrong with food in restaurants, but it’s also how the issue is handled is important. In this case, it wasn’t handled well at all. It’s a shame, as the previous night we visited the number one Bruges restaurant, which was expensive but unbelievable food and hospitality, and the opposite of this restaurant.
Lovely cosy restaurant, good quality food served quickly. Limited menu which was fine as we knew beforehand, meatballs were amazing, Flemish beef stew was really good
